with a check for $500 to purchase needed flashlights

Brett Brown, manager of the Safeway store in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, presents a check in the amount of $500 to Fire Chief Jock Johnson of the Paradise Valley Fire Department. Verizon Supports Paradise Valley Need for Radios

Verizon Check - $1,000
Scott Hoskins and Jim Cowin of Verizon
present Fire Chief Jock Johnson and Fire Fighter Chet Savage
with a check for $1,000 to help purchase communications equipment

Verizon has donated one thousand dollars to the Paradise Valley Fire District specifically to be applied against the purchase of new radios. Thanks to Scott Hoskins, Verizon Regional Manager (Coeur d"Alene) and Jim Cowin, Manager of the Verizon Switch Station in Bonners Ferry, the Paradise Valley Fire District is able to apply these funds to enable the purchase of much needed communications equipment.

The Paradise Valley Fire District is in need of a communications equip[ment. Fire Chief Jock Johnson sent request letters to several large corporations asking for assistance in making this purchase. One such letter was sent to Verizon, and in addition to donating the $1,000 check Verizon provided a tour of the Bonners Ferry Switching Station. In addition to being grateful for the donation, the Fire Department received some insight as to how the Verizon System works.

Water Tenders Don't Fall From Trees

Univar Check - $10,000
Fire Chief Jock Johnson received this check from the CEO of
Univar, Inc., in appreciation of this Boundary County Community

Univar, Inc. has donated ten thousand dollars to the Paradise Valley Fire District specifically to be applied against the purchase of a new (used) water tender. Thanks to Gary Pruitt, President and CEO of Univar, Inc., the Paradise Valley Fire District is $10,000 closer to being able to acquire this needed Fire Vehicle.

The Paradise Valley Fire District is in need of a water tender. Fire Chief Jock Johnson sent request letters to several large corporations asking for assistance in making this purchase. One such letter was sent to Univar, Inc., a Wholesale Chemical Distributor located in Bellevue, Washington. Univar supplies chemicals to the Bonners Ferry City Water Department where Gary's dad worked until he passed away.

Gary, son of Leo and Dolores Pruitt, was born and raised in Bonners Ferry, and is very familiar with the Paradise Valley Fire District. Gary still considers Bonners Ferry 'home', and when he and his wife have time they come here to visit family and friends. His mother, Dolores, lives in Bonners Ferry as does his sister, Candice ('Candy') Kelly. Gary's brother, Stan, lives just down the street from the Paradise Valley Fire District Main fire station.

The entire Boundary County community benefits from this donation since a water tender is a key vehicle used to provide mutual aid to fire districts surrounding Paradise Valley.
